Voda-Blog : December 2009 - End of the Season
Hi Everyone….

Did the holidays arrive earlier this year? I have totally fallen behind on my Christmas shopping and cookie-baking. Wait, who am I kidding? I don’t bake, and most of my shopping takes place on Christmas Eve. Good…then I’m right on schedule.

A lot has happened since I last checked in with you.
End of the season, NCWTS and NNS banquet in Miami, Thanksgiving, NSCS banquet in Vegas, and a trip to Cozumel for the wedding of 2 good friends! Beautiful wedding…great snorkeling!

This year marked the first time the Camping World Truck Series and Nationwide Series held a combined banquet. Rick Allen and I co-hosted together for the 4th time. Ron Hornaday and Kyle Busch were well-deserving of this year’s titles. On the Sprint Cup side, another first…the first year the banquet went west! The city of Las Vegas certainly rolled out the red carpet…there was NASCAR signage everywhere! I was honored to co-host this year’s banquet with my NASCAR on Fox colleague, Mike Joy.

Next up for me, professionally, The Cotton Bowl! For the 4th year in a row, I will be covering this prestigious bowl game for Fox…working alongside Pat Summerall, and this year, Darryl “Moose” Johnston. It’s a new era for the 74th annual Cotton Bowl…the first time the game will be held in the new Cowboys arena. Should be quite a spectacle. Be sure to tune in on Saturday, January 2nd at 1pm central, on Fox.

Of course, it won’t be long before the NASCAR community reunites in Daytona for the start of the 2010 season. This will be a big year for all of us on Fox…as this will be our 10th season!

On a sad note, we lost a couple of friends this week. Sharon Hutchens, wife of Stewart-Haas Competition Director Bobby Hutchens, passed away after previously kicking breast cancer’s ass. She was a fighter and an inspiration. RCR crew member, DJ Richardson, passed away on Christmas night. He was 37. All of us who knew DJ will be a little worse off for not seeing his face on a weekly basis. Please keep each of their families in your thoughts and prayers.

Enjoy your New Year’s…and don’t be too hard on yourself if you slip on your resolution!

Best Wishes,
Krista
